Make the decision today to begin the Nine First Fridays

1. Begin at Mass on the first Friday of the month.

Without the affection for sin, receive holy communion

and pray for the Pope and his intentions.

2. Prayer for the Pope includes

1 - Our Father

1 - Hail Mary

1 Glory Be

Offer your prayer petition. This will be the same petition for the entire 9 month devotion.

The nine first Fridays must be consecutive. Miss one, start over.

There are occasions when Mass is not celebrated.

One instance is Good Friday; however the opportunity to receive the Eucharist remains.

This is consistent with the devotion and is not a problem, it is a blessing.

3. Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)

the week prior to, the week of, or the week after the first Friday.

You have 8 days prior or after the First Friday to meet this commitment.

It is optimal to receive the sacrament of healing before the First Friday but it is not required.

4. Have no affection for sin.

This is a tough one. Place your heart close to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and listen to Him.

If you have unforgiveness in your heart - release it.

If you have a vice - renounce it.

If you have a bad habit, decide now it is not worth the earthly attraction it holds.

Jesus wants more for you. Embrace this opportunity!

  • Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy

  • Tepid should shall grow fervent.

  • Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.

  • I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.

  • I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

  • Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.

  • I promise the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments;

  • My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

May God bless you in this devotion and the journey you embark upon.

Nine First Fridays Blog

I have been blessed by the Nine First Fridays Devotion for 20 years.

The grace and blessings I have experienced are more than just an answer to prayer.

It has been an open invitation from the Sacred Heart of Jesus to grow closer to Him.

To walk with Him and desire never to leave Him.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on Us!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on Us!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, Grant us Peace!

The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mass attendance has a long history.

It speaks of the same desire of God known more recently through the Divine Mercy Devotion.

Jesus wants to draw us closer.

Closer to His Sacred Heart, closer to His Divine Mercy and closer yet to eternity with Him.

"On Friday during Holy Communion, He said these words to His unworthy slave, if I mistake not: I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that its all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on nine first Fridays of consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they will not die under my displeasure or without receiving their sacraments, my divine Heart making itself their assured refuge at the last moment."
